The department aims at training students suiting the future development in the various fields of chemical engineering. In addition to enhancing the basic courses offered in chemical engineering, the department dedicatedly designs a variety of required and elective courses focusing on optoelectronic materials, plasma technology, Energy and Green Materials, preparations and characterizations of nano-materials, environmental technology and disasters prevention education. The curriculum lays emphasis on practical courses and aiding students to get certificates, as well as students' English ability so that the students will be fully prepared to enter the job market.
The department boasts of excellent facilities and a congenial teaching and learning environment. There are plenty of research laboratories features material and environmental technology, including ‘Plasma Technology Lab,’ ‘Accurate Analysis Center, ‘Nano Materials Technology Lab,’ ‘Particles Technology Lab,’ ‘Semi-conductive and Optoelectronic Materials Technology Lab,’ ‘Environmental Technology Lab,’ ‘Industrial Safety Lab,’ and ‘Material processing Lab’ apart from some elementary teaching laboratories.
The department owns many fine instruments which individually cost more than a million NT dollars, such as XRD, DSC(TGA), FESEM and WEDS,TEM,PECVD RF and MW plasma systems, as well as some common instruments AA, TOC, FTIR, IC, GC. It is believed that under the instructions from well-qualified faculty and through the process of systematic learning, the students are able to get fully involved in today's career and well prepared for their own future.

1. Material technology: nano-particles and materials, MOCVD, liquid crystal material,microelectroforming, plasma application technology(surface modification, waste treatment).
2. Green Environmental technology: membrane separation, wastewater treatment, water analysis, heavy metal recycling, disasters prevention education.
